Best Buy

Gets a Medicare Jet-Setters Groovy Review

Written by MJ Reporter Willow LaMunyon

A few months ago, my kids came over to watch a movie with me. During the movie, I heard some remarks about the TV being so small it was impossible to see easily, and my opinion on it was, thank goodness. I thought my sight was going. It was time for me to go shopping for a big TV.

I knew exactly what kind and size of TV I wanted, and that was the difficult part of the purchase. My kids Charley and Karla, drove me around Tulsa looking for the TV, making several stops before I found the style I wanted. We walked into Best Buy, and there it was. I looked at a few, but I was an easy sell, especially since the salesman was extra nice and thoughtful of my hearing problem even though communication took an extra effort since his voice wasn’t in my hearing range.

Still, with the effort, he started telling me about one of those after-sale contracts. Normally I say no as soon as I can get a word in, but this time, he said something that captured my attention. “A tech would come to my house and help me with electronics even if I didn’t purchase them at Best Buy."

I couldn’t sign it fast enough, especially after I learned the cost was reasonable. A few days later, a tech did come to my house from Tulsa to Okmulgee and did a great job of hanging my monster TV on the wall and hooking everything up. He was an extra nice young man, and I was sorry that I didn’t get his name.

The second time he came back and hooked up a sound bar for me. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake the third time, but a different young man came. After noticing how kind and helpful he was, I needed to find out a little more about him.

It didn’t take any questioning to see that he was one good-looking guy. I am easily old enough to be his grandmother, but even this old lady likes to look. Thomas had the perfect shade of red hair that he kept in a neat ponytail at the nape of his neck. It was not easy to keep from staring at his hair which was exactly the natural color I would have if given a choice on such things. Thomas has a family of two, Walter and Gus, both are dogs. By the smile that talking about them put on his face, I have no doubt that they are well cared for and loved.

The entire time we talked, he continued to work on setting up my new cartridge-free printer. I don’t know if I had purchased the wrong kind of equipment or what, but setting up printers has always been a nightmare until Thomas did it quickly and with such ease that he could work and visit at the same time. After he connected it with my computer, I asked if he could also connect my kindle Fire and my home, which he did. None of my geek squad cost anything beyond the price of the contract and even refused tips. Let me say that again; they refused tips. I don’t believe that ever happened to me before. If you need electronics, geeks who know what they are doing while being easy on the eye and love good service, I recommend Best Buy.

Medicare Jet-Setters give Best Buy a groovy rating.
