Downtown Edmond Arts Festival 2021

Gets a Medicare Jet-Setters Groovy Review

Open today, Sunday, September 12th, from 11 AM to 5 PM

This year I attended the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival for my first time. While walking down the rows of tents bursting with art, jewelry, and pottery, my eyes told my brain, "This is a creative feast."

Music drifted through the streets as a young man played his cello. The elegance of the instrument and the aristocratic music he played added to the ambiance of this artistic banquet.

One artist painted a large man lying on the beach with Oreo cookies stacked up on his belly. I laughed out loud as I studied this painting. I felt in awe of the artist's creativity. I am sorry I did not remember her name. If you go today, I am sure this piece will stand out when you walk down the street. Many years ago, I read the following statement, "If the art evokes an emotion of love, hate, humor, or sadness, then it is art. If you look at the painting and feel nothing, then to you, this piece is not art."

There were many chairs and benches you could sit on just to dog watch. Many people brought their dogs to this event, and there were many breeds I had never seen before. In my pictures, you will see my favorite dog. This dog had dreadlocks. While visiting with the owner, I found out her dog is from a line of working sheepdogs in Hungary going back for over 2,000 years.

If you are hungry, there are food trucks and restaurants to satisfy your gastronomical desires. There is even a children's area, so if you happen to be babysitting the grandkids today, it would be a great place to introduce them to the groovy world of art.
