IHOP: Doctor-Approved

IHOP at 2624 W. Memorial Road gets a Medicare Jet-Setters Groovy Review

I am a proud member of the Early Risers Toastmasters Club which meets on Thursday mornings at 6:30 am. After the meeting, some of us stay and have breakfast together. Following our most recent meeting, Joan, who is too young to be an official Medicare Jet-Setter, and I ventured over to IHOP. It has been years since I have eaten at an IHOP. In my younger life, a night out would often end at the IHOP for coffee and breakfast.

The moment I walked into this pancake heaven, a familiar voice greeted me. I looked up to see the smiling face of my doctor, who had retired a few years earlier. He said, “A bunch of us retired physicians meet here for coffee. Before you leave, stop by our table, and let’s catch up.”

The first thought that came to my mind was, IHOP is doctor-approved. Obviously, the waitress knew the group of doctors because of the good-natured banter they were sharing. I wondered if Joan and I would get the same friendly service.

I was not disappointed. The waitress came to take our order with a big smile on her face and a can-do attitude. In a flash, she was back with our drinks. My coffee was hot and steaming.

The picture of the Swedish crepes topped with sweet-tart lingonberries & lingonberry butter looked too picture-perfect to be true. I figured if the doctors were regulars at this IHOP, I would take a chance on the crepes.

When my order came, my plate of crepes was ever bit as beautiful as the picture on the menu. It was time for a taste test. This crepe was not only scrumptious; it was lip-smacking groovy. I would not have doubted their story if someone had told me these crepes were from a very exclusive Swedish restaurant. I had no idea I would find the perfect crepe at IHOP.

Joan ordered a traditional breakfast of eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. She said it was yummy. It looked and smelled good too.

IHOP has an IHOPPY Hour from 2 pm – 10 pm. I am going to make an IHOPPY hour soon. For only $5.00 during these hours, you can get the classic breakfast burrito or bowl, chicken & Pancakes, Quick 2-Egg breakfast, the classic steak burger with fries, onion rings, or pancakes, there is a buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich with the fixin’s, or a BLT sandwich. If you are not quite that hungry, they have some three-dollar options during the IHOPPY Hour.

See you at IHOP.
