Life is so groovy when you discover a treasure. The Last Drop Coffee Shop is one of those gems. This coffee shop and bookstore are located at 5425 N. Lincoln Blvd. in OKC. It is the old Howard Johnsons reinvented. Your first step into the building, you feel like you walked back into time when the coffee shop was where all the cool people and the free spirits gathered. Sunlight streams through the windows adding to the love and peace environment. The President of the writer’s group I belong to, found this place to have our monthly meetings. It is the perfect environment to bring out your creative juices.
Everywhere you look, there are pieces of the past turned into art. I especially loved the musical instruments that were painted in bright colors decorating every nook and cranny. There is even a cut out in the metal coffee bar with rotating pictures that look like postcards. It reminds me of the old viewfinders we played with as children. Remember the disks we would drop in the plastic viewfinder and spend hours rotating the pictures with the lever for us to push?
My very favorite thing about The Last Drop Coffee Shop is you pay whatever you can for your mocha, latte, cappuccino, Frappuccino, or macchiato. There are no prices on the menu. If you can pay a little extra, you donate to a good cause by supplementing those cups of coffee for those with little or no money to pay.
You may get an extra treat when Stan Engle, who owns The Last Drop Coffee Shop, along with his wife, will pick up his trumpet and play. Nothing is cooler than the sweet sounds of jazz coming from a trumpet player.
Because it is around the holidays, I enjoyed a delicious pumpkin spice latte and banana nut muffin. Both items proved exceptional. I could taste the love in each bite of my muffin and sip of my pumpkin latte from this family-owned business.

The hours of operation are 8-4 Tuesday – Thursday and 7 -5 Friday. They are closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
